know_how_u_feelBody and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy? Sam is 5'7" and about 128 lbs. with long legs and less of a butt than she would like.
2. How old is she? 25
3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch? Her posture is perfect without being too rigid. Her mother was in pageants and taught her girl everything she knows.
4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Being a Heavenly, Sam is actually healthier than a lot of people. The drug that compounded with her DNA at conception continually prompts the body to create new healthy cells. So it would take a really nasty virus to make her sick. And just like toddlers born HIV positive but eventually kick it, there was no guarantee her body wouldn't eventually beat it anyway. However, it did mean that her body tended to metabolize drugs and alcohol quickly. Every time she tried to get drunk or high, it became harder the next time. If she did it all the time it would eventually have almost no effect.
5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? She's graceful enough but not overly so.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror? Sam is a hot. More than that she knows it. Though she's got some daddy issues so she often feels the need to seek out attention. She's aware that she does it though. Most of the Heavenly Children are incredibly self aware, even as kids.
7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? She's a light skinned black girl.
8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style. Dark brown almost black. She got the good hair from her mom. Textured but not too curly or dry. She usually wears it relaxed and long but she will change it up on occasion.
9. What color are her eyes? Like her hair it's so dark a brown it's almost black.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? Not really. No scars. No tattoos.
11. What are her chief tension centers? Que?
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit? Sam's wardrobe ranges from ball gowns to scrubs. She has something for every occasion. Which is probably why her closet is busting at the seams.
13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them? Since she knows she has a nice body and she like attention, her clothes usually fit extremely well. Even verging on the tight side.
14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences? Absolutely not. When she is at work her hair is usually up, she has very little make-up and she scrubs. Looking like that all the time makes her want to dress up when she goes out. IF she goes out. Sam relishes her lazy days where she can stay in her pajamas and sleep in.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? Samantha is a sucker for pretty underwear. For every bra she has 3 pairs of panties to match. She likes just about anything lacy, silky, or with fun colors.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? It ranges depending on how excited she gets but it's mostly in the middle somewhere.
2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate? Normally she speaks clearly and evenly but when she's excited she can get loud and speak fast.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? She has a slight Missouri accent. Other than that, she speaks quite eloquently though she does attempt to talk "street-like" on occasion. That stereotypical ethnic lilt and verbiage popularly associated with African American women. It only really comes out when she's messing around or getting an attitude though.
4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency? English is her first language though she knows enough Spanish to be conversational and 4 years of French in high school.
5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations? Not really. Though sometimes she greets with hola or says goodbye with ciao.
6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words? Sam doesn't over think much though she's not without tact either. She just usually tells people what she thinks anyway.
7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? Eloquent. She had a top rate education.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart? She was first in her class in high school. Fifth in her class in college. She got into the Georgetown Medical program and now she's doing her internship. Her being smart was never a question but she's been very sheltered. So there are times when she tries to be adventurous and bites off more than she can chew. Sometimes her common sense comes into question.
2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate? She thinks very well on her feet. She actually doesn't like having too much time to think about things. It gives her time to have second thoughts and she hates doubt.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Sam is incredibly instinctual but she strives to be a more logical thinker.
4. What kind of education has the character had? Best private schools money can buy.
5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about? She's very interested in medicine and the human body thanks to her ability and her own genetic anomaly.
6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert? Definitely an extrovert.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? Mood swings. It's not crazy all over the place but the girl can go from fine to enraged in 10 seconds flat if properly provoked. It usually fizzles just as fast though she can hold a grudge and she's prone to throwing things or breaking shit.
8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? The girl is nothing if not confident. She usually teases to break the ice but it's always good hearted. She saves the scalding commentary for either behind someone's back or until after they have wronged her in some way.
9. Is she more likely to act, or to react? Depends on the circumstances.
10. Which is her default: fight or flight? Oh, she's a fighter but she has been known to flee on occasion.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? She likes to give people a hard time but has no problem getting teased back. It can even be foreplay.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does she deal with them? No.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person? The first time she realized as a little girl that she just knew what was wrong with them.
14. What does she fear? Failing.
15. What are her hopes or aspirations? She wants to make a name for herself. She wants to change the way doctors approach medicine and the treatment of patients.
16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her? That she needs people. That's she's not as strong as she wants people to believe.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents. Her relationship with her parents is good, if not a little distant. Her parents were always so wrapped of in there own lives that there were times when Sam felt like an accessory. Something to round out the happy family image.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? Only child and likes it that way.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand? Her parents were self made. Other members of the family weren't so lucky or driven. Most of her cousins are a little resentful. They claim she likes to "play white" especially since she tends to date more white boys.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them? She's lost touch of most of her high school friends. While they joined sororities and got married, Sam pursued her doctorate. The people she is now closest to are her roommates; Nikko, Beth, and Kyle.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? She doesn't really have a best friend anymore. Maybe Nikko. They are interns together.
6. Does she have other close friends? Just Clarke but that's a little complicated at the moment.
7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people? She makes superficial friends easily. People to party with or just hang out. Close friends are tougher.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once? Single

11. Who was her first crush? Who is her latest? Her first crush was Mike Applegate in the second grade.
