Wednesday - A Side Rarely Seen

Thursday - Recipe

Sam shot Hunter a look. "I know what I’m doing."
"You said that last time." He replied from the couch. He was supposed to take it easy since he was still recovering from a concussion. Standing for too long and bending just made him dizzy while they were trying to cook dinner. Since there were just the two of them, she opted for turkey breasts instead of a whole bird. She made just one box of stove top and a small batch of green bean casserole. A cheap can of cranberry sauce and instant mashed potatoes completed the meal but now she was trying to make dessert.
Her mom had the best apple pie in the Midwest so when Hunter said apple was his favorite, she called her mom to get the recipe. It seemed pretty straight forward but her first attempt was a disaster. The edges of the crust were burned. The bottom was soggy and raw. The apple filling tasted pretty good but there were a few seeds in it. It was such a disaster Samantha decides she was going to try again.
The second attempt was going about the same as her first. It would help if she know what she did wrong the first time. Finally she broke down and called her mom. Hunter couldn’t have looked more smug about it if he tried. And with good reason. He’d told her 30 minutes ago to just call her mom but Sam was stubborn.
The conversation was brief and Sam looked irritated.
"What?" Hunter asked when she didn’t say anything.
"Did you know you were supposed to bake the crust separate first?"
A smirk tugged on the corner of his mouth. "What did you think the beans were for? You put them in the pie so the middle doesn’t rise when you bake it."
"You knew that and didn’t say anything?!" She whined, throwing a pot holder almost hitting him in the face.
"Hey! Head injury!"

Tuesday - Pilgrims or Indians?
Nov. 22nd, 2011 08:08 pmLet's see. On one hand you have a repressed white guy with questionable fashion sense that came to a new country and just took over. On the other hand you have half naked dark skinned people that offered the white folks dinner and left with syphilis.

Day 3: Eight Ways To Win Your Heart
Nov. 18th, 2011 02:01 am1. I'd say honesty but guys lie. Just don't let me catch you.
2. Great sex. Come on, we're being real. Every girl likes to think that Prince Charming will be that stud in college that gave her 6+ screaming orgasms in a night. It rarely, if ever, is but a girl can dream.
3. Reliability. Don't tell me you'll be somewhere and then you just flake. Don't tell me you feel something when it was more of a passing thought. This ties into the honesty thing but some guys mean it when they say they feel something or will do something at the time they say then blow it off or change their minds later.
4. Know how to have fun. I like to party. I like to joke around a lot. And sometimes that means I'm acting like a kid or being really flirty. The last thing I want is someone who can't play with me. Who thinks I'm being stupid when I mess around. It's a buzzkill. No thanks.
5. Understands the importance of my job. I don't want to hear that it's just a job. I don't want to hear bitching that it's too demanding or complaints when I have to leave all of a sudden. It sucks. I know. But I want to be a fucking doctor. Depending how far up I go I might have to do that less but it's not going to stop all together. My job is demanding. Deal with it. I am.
6. Be a fighter. Not necessarily literally. It's just that there are times when I can be a bitch. When I'm trying to call all the shots and boss people around. Half the time I don't even know I'm doing it. The guys that never make it are the ones that just bend over and take it. I want a man that can take my bullshit with grace then dish a little of their own just as easily. I'm an alpha female, I need a king not a sub.
7. Someone I can be quiet with. I know I said I want someone who can party but it's just as important to me for to have someone that knows when to switch it off. Since I have such a demanding job there are days when I want to stay in bed and be lazy. I need someone that can be lazy with me.

Modern Day Canon!Verse - AKA SWS and beyond verse. Sam is taken straight from my Heavenly Story, right up until they are released from The Center. Fast forward 4 years and she finally makes it to Georgetown, fast tracks through medical school and she just started her first year of internship at Georgetown University Hospital.
DC!Verse - AKA Open Vein Writing Comm verse. Sam is not powered. Her relationship with Clarke took place when they were counselors at a science focused summer camp when they were 18. It was whirlwind and short lived and when the summer ended Sam's father finally got to meet this Clarke she was always talking about, saw a skinny white kid, and dragged Sam back to St. Louis. Heartbroken Clarke went home accepted that some things weren't meant to be not knowing that Sam stood up to her father and hopped a plane to New York. When she mistakenly thought a friend was his new love interest, she continued on to university crushed. Now 7 years later, they've bumped into each other again. Both had been living in DC all along. She's starting her internship. He's working with NCIS and sort of dating his boss, Director Jenny Shepard and much drama ensues.
CoupleofPros!Verse - So far everything that has happened Modern Day Canon!Verse has happened in this verse. It was really just set up to explore the budding friendship between Samantha and Wesley (thedailymanho).
LeavingMarks!Verse - Right from the beginning, Sam and Rick (rick_d_tech), or Puppy as she calls him, had sort of a funny relationship. The snark and flirting was thick but Puppy was exactly the kind of guy she steered away from. The nice, sweet, wears his heart on his sleeve, and so easy to fall for sort but they bonded over their mutual abilities and against her better judgement Samantha started sleeping with Rick. It was just supposed to be sex. In fact, she made a point to keep it hard and almost impersonal but Rick doesn't know how to do anything halfway. Little by little he's chipping away at her reserve and excuses but it could so easily go either way. He could win her over or he could give her all the reason she needs to run.
Unnamed - When Samantha met Simon (paladingus), she really only saw one thing. A not so bright hunk of beautiful man meat she couldn't wait to get naked. And she did. After only one brief conversation, she'd convinced the paladin to not only break his vow of chastity but to do it in a church. The far too brief interlude in the sanctuary closet ended with her hoping but not really expecting to see him again. She never for a moment thought that he would become so important to her. It may have started with her tempting him but the more she is around him, the more his good influence was working it's magic on her. The barriers she's built around herself for so long are coming down but she's likely just setting herself up to be hurt. How can she possibly have a future with a man from another world?
