OOC: DW RP

So I made this account on Dreamwidth. I gussied up the journal. I imported all the comments. I added the clone comms that came over as well as friends accounts and I've even posted a few times. So where is all the RP? Am I just not looking in the right places? I can go like a week without checking DW and there will only be like 5 new posts. That would have been a good week when I used to RP in the standard long prose style RPs but I haven't been in one of those in a while. I'm in mostly dressing rooms now and it's moving at a snails pace. I only have 2 accounts at LJ with paid time on it left and the plan was to ease over to DW. I don't want to keep pumping money into a site that I don't feel appreciates it and I do love the way the maintainers at DW handle business. They felt personable, approachable. They were even funny which I loved. That more than anything was a big reason I cloned a couple of my accounts but unless they are going to game with me I'm wondering if it wasn't a waste of time and energy.

If there are games you're looking for that aren't here, you can post on create_my_comm and see if someone can make it for you, or at least see if there would be any interest.

I'm on some dressing room games myself (mostly dear_mun) and it seems like it's very busy to me, there are always a lot of new posts ....

Yeah, I tried checked out Dear_Mun here and in the past I had joined on LJ with a few characters but I don't know. I mean meta character talk was fun and all but it wasn't the same as gaming. I didn't end up posting there much so I didn't add it this time.

The create_my_comm thing might come in handy though and I did subscribe to a comm that listed the different RP games available. I've been poking around. I've been paying attention to the dates on posts. I guess that was the part that was discouraging. It's not that uncommon for 5 or 6 days to go between posts. I guess I'm spoiled by the fast and dirty RP I'm used to. I should probably be more patient.

SSWS seems to be picking up pretty nicely. My muses are chatty beyond all reasonable measure, and I haven't had much issue finding people to play with. It is slower than LJ, but a lot of the folks from LJ seem to be trickling over steadily, and the people who do post do so regularly.

I was just looking at your boy's journal and you posted the round-up and I was like "I haven't seen any of these". So I tried to click on it and it said I couldn't view it. They were protected. I didn't even know that SSWS had been cloned so I hadn't added it yet. So I added it and it literally just accepted me. So now I should be able to see your posts now.

Yeah, I have him in SSWS and the regular non-smutty SWS. The non-smutty one seems to have people who are a bit shyer, so I just get the muses to talk to anyone and everyone.

I feel you. The only people who've replied back to me so far are the three I mirrored my accounts to talk to. If not for having them to reply to, I wouldn't log on here at all.

I was all gung ho about DW at first because I was (and still am) pretty pissed not by the changes made to LJ so much as the disregard the people in charge of LJ had toward the people unhappy about the changes. I mean I hate not having my icons or some of the features but every time I think about giving LJ money again it just gets my back up. I mean it feels a bit like having a clothing line you just absolutely love, been wearing for years, only to find out that they are made in sweat shops now. I can't in good consciousness give them anymore money now that I know what they are about.

Morally, the decision is easy. Even financially the decision is easier since in the end it's cheaper to upgrade the account and add more icons. But I use these sites to play and more than half the people I like playing with are still really active on LJ. Guh. Stupid morality. Stupid LJ with their ignorant ass people in charge. Stupid Russian.

I suppose I'm more bothered by the fact that I would post here more if I ever got replied to. I like LJ. I like it here. But being here feels like a wasted effort if I get nothing in response. Hell, I get that on LJ, too. I just want MORE CR, doesn't matter the site (although, I agree, I will probably not be spending any more money over on LJ, at least for the time being)

I'm sorry you're not getting replies. That's always hard. I mean you try not and take it personally but at some point you just start feeling paranoid like maybe it's something you're doing. Is this the only character you play? Have we ever threaded before?

It's exactly that. It's very hard not to take it personally, but I'm learning. Then again, I haven't even been an rp'er for a year yet - that'll be in March. We have, yes. I also play zizes_schmizes, alonewillsing, nvrbelieveagain and bestintention.

Yup, we are around. Although, I only have AJ/Maddie here for now.

Yeah, I only have a couple of mine here for now too but I think I'm going to clone the rest. I'm pretty sure I'm going to make the full switch at some point. I just hate that it's so divided. I mean I do understand wanting to stay on LJ. I'm reluctant to move too but there is a reason I don't RP on Facebook and that seems to be the direction LJ is going. They want to make it like a Russian LJ. Subject lines were just a start.

And of course with that change comes the threat of more. I'm in the process of mirroring them all over here, no matter how reluctant I am to switch fully.
